Weighing only 335 kilograms, the AS 1040 Yak 4WD's compact design is stable on slopes and rough terrain, while the flail mower technology provides incredible cutting power and clean cutting results at high working speeds. Designed for demanding mowing tasks on slopes

The low centre of gravity and optimal weight distribution characteristic of AS ride-on mowers qualify the AS 1040 Yak 4WD for use on steep terrain. Permanent 4WD and aggressive tread tyres provide excellent grip while pendulum bearing supports on the front axle ensure continuous ground contact. A robust flail mower deck reliably mulches vegetation up to 1.5 metres high into fine mulch. All these features prove advantageous on difficult terrain such as steep road embankments, which are often mowed only a few times a year. The AS 1040 Yak's 56 Y-flails ride up and over obstacles and hidden objects, protecting both the engine and the operator while the surfing mower deck also folds upwards to avoid damage. A laterally offset mower deck facilitates mowing under crash barriers and along road boundary posts and similar traffic elements.

High working speeds with ergonomic driving comfort

Equipped with a 4-stroke overhead valve engine (OHV) from Briggs & Stratton and a cutting width of 100 centimetres, the AS 1040 Yak 4WD achieves working speeds of up to 6,800 m²\/h. The cutting height can be adjusted to 7 levels from 30 to 110 millimetres and the mower reaches a speed of 6.8 km\/h in forward gear and 6.3 km\/h in reverse gear. A funnel-shaped tank with reserve function enables complete emptying of fuel - even on slopes. The tank is separated from the engine to optimise weight balance and prevents the fuel from overheating.

The wheel set's suspension system and end-position damping are two advances in user comfort. Both the suspension hardness and the seat position can be adjusted to suit each individual operator. All elements are ergonomically arranged to enable intuitive and user-friendly operation. As with cruise control, the gear lever can be set to the desired speed without having to hold the lever.
